Ashleigh Acker graduated from California State University, Dominguez Hills with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a Master of Science in Marital Family Therapy. Her first clinical internship was providing psychological support to individuals, couples, and families learning to address the loss of control, hopelessness and social isolation that cancer patients and their families often experience. She then went on to work with at-risk children in a school setting, before moving into community mental health. Ashleigh has experience working with diverse and multi-cultural populations, and has a special knack for helping couples get back to a more loving, understanding and connected place. From her educational and professional training, she gained experience dealing with a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, grief, loss, self-harm, addiction, interpersonal relationship difficulties, major life transitions, and trauma. She added play therapy and restorative communication to her skill set from working with children and families. Ashleigh’s perspective is holistic and systemic, exploring the health of the individual and the family with a mind, body, and spirit
viewpoint. She encourages her clients to move into a self-empowerment mindset with a strengths-based approach to wellness.
