Sara Brenker completed her Master’s Degree in Social Work at Florida Atlantic University in 2018. She graduated Cum Laude in FAU’s advanced standing program. Ms. Brenker has experience across a variety of settings including outpatient specialty clinics, crisis stabilization, structured outpatient programs, inpatient psychiatric, large nonprofits, and private practice. She completed a postgraduate certification in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) which was conducted by a member of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy who was trained under Dr. Aaron Beck.
Ms. Brenker specializes in co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders along with presenting issues in early sobriety as well as long-term sobriety hardships. From her educational and professional training, she has gained experiencing dealing with a variety of issues. These issues include, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, poor interpersonal relationships, family relational issues, couple’s therapy, and difficult life adjustments. Ms. Brenker offers a client-centered approach with an emphasis on strengths-based therapy, solution-focused therapy, and a non-judgmental approach. She also believes that the client is an expert on themselves and the therapist is the channel to help them navigate the complexities associated with hardships and vulnerability. As a registered social work clinical intern, Ms. Brenker is committed to attending continued education trainings and learning the latest evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
