Miami-Dade County is home to nearly 2.7 million people speaking dozens of languages, holding different cultural views on family, and navigating pressures that most generic therapy practices never think about. Marriage & Family Services opened our North Miami office at 1175 NE 125th Street specifically to bring accessible, culturally aware counseling to the communities between Aventura and Little Haiti that have long been underserved by quality mental health care. Whether you grew up in Miami Shores, recently settled in Sunny Isles Beach, or commute past FIU’s Biscayne Bay Campus every day, our therapists understand the cultural fabric of this area and the real-world stressors that come with it.
Our NE 125th Street location sits at the geographic center of some of Miami-Dade’s most vibrant and diverse neighborhoods. We regularly work with individuals, couples, and families from:
North Miami & North Miami Beach
Our immediate community, where Haitian-American, Caribbean, and Hispanic families make up a significant share of the population
Miami Shores & Biscayne Park
Families in these quieter residential areas who want therapy close to home without driving into downtown Miami
Aventura & Bal Harbour
Professionals and retirees seeking experienced couples counselors north of the office
Sunny Isles Beach
Including the large Eastern European and South American communities along Collins Avenue
El Portal & Little Haiti
Where generational and cultural transitions create unique family therapy needs
Miami Gardens & Opa-locka
Serving one of the largest predominantly Black communities in South Florida
Hialeah
The heart of Miami-Dade’s Cuban and Latin American population, where bilingual therapy matters
Wynwood & Upper East Side
Younger couples and creative professionals navigating modern relationship challenges
This reach matters because finding a marriage counselor or family therapist in Miami who genuinely understands your background — not just your symptoms — can be the difference between therapy that works and therapy you abandon after three sessions.
Relationships in Miami-Dade face distinct pressures: cost of living that forces difficult financial conversations, blended cultural expectations about gender roles and extended family involvement, and the social distractions of living in a city that never slows down. Our marriage counselors work with couples across all stages — from pre-marital preparation to rebuilding trust after infidelity — using evidence-based approaches tailored to your specific situation. We see both married and unmarried couples, including LGBTQ+ partnerships.
Family therapy at our North Miami office often involves navigating generational and cultural differences under one roof. First-generation parents raising American-born children, grandparents with traditional values living alongside teenagers with TikTok worldviews, blended families merging different household cultures — these are the dynamics our therapists work with every week. We provide a space where every family member feels heard, regardless of age or background.
Children in Miami-Dade’s public schools face a unique mix of academic pressure, social complexity, and sometimes the aftereffects of family immigration stress or community instability. Our child therapists use play therapy and age-appropriate techniques to help kids process anxiety, behavioral issues, trauma, and family changes in a way they can actually engage with.
This is one of the most significant services we offer and something that sets our North Miami office apart from nearly every other therapy practice in the area. TMS is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive treatment for depression and anxiety that uses targeted magnetic pulses to stimulate underactive regions of the brain. If you have tried medication and talk therapy without adequate results, TMS may be the next step. Sessions take approximately 20 minutes, require no sedation, and patients drive themselves to and from appointments. Most major insurance plans cover TMS when other treatments have not worked.
We provide structured treatment for anxiety disorders, major depression, PTSD, and complex trauma using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), CBT, and other proven modalities. For clients who have experienced domestic violence, community violence, immigration trauma, or natural disaster stress — realities that are not uncommon in Miami-Dade — our trauma-informed therapists provide culturally sensitive care without judgment.
This is not a tagline. Miami-Dade is the most ethnically diverse metro area in the United States. Our therapists bring real experience working with Caribbean, Haitian, Hispanic, Brazilian, Eastern European, and multicultural families. We understand that therapy advice rooted in one cultural framework does not automatically translate to another.
Most practices offer one or the other. Having both means your treatment team communicates directly, and you do not fall through the cracks between providers.
Our Plantation and Delray Beach offices mean that if you relocate within South Florida or need a different specialist, your care history follows you. Snowbirds and seasonal residents also benefit from this flexibility.
Our Suite 320 office at 1175 NE 125th Street is accessible from I-95, US-1, and the major east-west corridors. Free parking is available on-site.
If getting to the office is difficult on a given week, most of our services are available via secure video throughout Florida.
We accept most major insurance plans to keep therapy financially accessible:

We recommend calling (786) 842-0444 or emailing admin@marriagefamilyservices.com to verify your specific plan before your first appointment. Our front desk team handles insurance verification so you know your out-of-pocket cost upfront.
If the problems you are experiencing primarily affect your relationship — communication breakdowns, trust issues, intimacy concerns, recurring arguments — couples counseling is usually the right starting point. If personal issues like depression, anxiety, or past trauma are affecting the relationship, we may recommend individual sessions alongside couples work. During your first call, we help you determine the best approach.
Ideally, yes. Couples therapy works best when both people participate willingly. However, if your partner is hesitant, you can begin with individual sessions focused on the relationship. We frequently see reluctant partners agree to attend after a few weeks, once they see the process is collaborative rather than adversarial.
TMS directly stimulates nerve cells in the brain region associated with mood regulation, without the systemic side effects that medications can cause (weight gain, fatigue, sexual dysfunction). It is specifically designed for people who have not responded adequately to at least one antidepressant. Treatment involves daily sessions over four to six weeks, and many patients see lasting improvement.
Yes. Given the diversity of Miami-Dade County, we have therapists who provide services in Spanish and Creole. Contact our office to confirm availability for your preferred language and schedule.
Most couples attend weekly sessions for 12 to 20 weeks, though this varies significantly based on the issues involved. Some couples address a specific conflict in 6 to 8 sessions. Others with deeper patterns or trauma histories may benefit from longer-term work. We set goals collaboratively and reassess regularly.
Yes. Florida law and professional ethics require therapists to maintain strict confidentiality. There are narrow legal exceptions (imminent danger to self or others, child or elder abuse), which your therapist will explain during your first session. In couples therapy, we establish clear confidentiality guidelines that both partners agree to.
In most cases, yes. Since the pandemic, the majority of insurance plans cover telehealth therapy at the same rate as in-person visits. We verify telehealth coverage when we check your benefits.
Whether you are looking for marriage counseling, family therapy, TMS treatment, or individual support, our North Miami team is ready to help.
