Hi! My name is McKenzie Benz, and I am a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern. I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University.
I didn’t always know what I wanted to do with my life, but I have always wanted to be involved in helping others in some way. I attended the University of Miami for my undergraduate and received a Bachelor of Science on the Pre-Medical track. After graduating, I felt lost and unmotivated to move forward on that path and decided to give therapy a try. Through my own journey in therapy, I discovered mental health and counseling were something I felt truly passionate about and confident in pursuing.
Through my internship while in school, I gained experience working with kids, adolescents, and their parents, dealing with anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, autism, and everyday challenges. I believe the therapeutic space is meant to serve as a safe outlet for anyone to explore not only what they may be struggling with, but also who they are and want to be, and to build the skills and confidence to achieve that.
My approach is holistic in nature, as every individual is unique and what one needs from therapy differs from person to person. I aim to understand the individual as a whole, meet them where they are, and use techniques and interventions that feel authentic to them.
